We will be having our monthly meeting this month on 5/28/13 at 7pm. Same location as always, Gerardo’s (2407 N. Big Spring) in the backroom. This month we have a great speaker:

U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway

Congressman Conaway will be giving members an update on what is happening in Washington D.C. and will answer questions from the membership. This will be a great opportunity for members to meet THEIR U.S. Congressman and ask questions.

As always appetizers will be provided by MCYR and anyone is invited to attend. Bring a friend and come join us for this great evening with Congressman Conaway.

We will be having our second After Work Meet & Greet of the year on 4/23/13 from 5:30 – 7:30pm. It will be held at Cigar Frogs (216 N. Main St.).

This will be a great time to network with other Young Professionals in the area and relax after a hard day of work.

We will NOT be having a monthly meeting this month and will only be holding the Meet & Greet. The club will be back to our normal schedule next month with U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway as our featured speaker.

This will be a great opportunity for members to ask THEIR elected officials questions and have a better understanding of what each office does for the county.

Due to the Midland Co. Republican Party Bush Day Dinner on 2/25/13 we will not be having our monthly meeting in February. Everyone is encouraged to get a ticket and go hear George P. Bush speak. For our meetings after February we have some great speakers:

3/26/13 – Midland Co. District Attorney Teresa Clingman and Sheriff Gary Painter
5/28/13 – U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway
6/25/13 – State Sen. Kel Seliger

All of these meetings will be a great opportunity for MCYR members to ask THEIR elected officials questions and voice concerns.

We will be have our monthly meeting 1/29/13 at 7pm. Same location, Gerardo’s (2407 N. Big Spring) in the backroom. We have a great speaker this month:

Bobby Burns – Former Midland Mayor and Current President/CEO of the Midland Chamber of Commerce

If you have not had the opportunity to hear Mr. Burns this is your chance! Besides hearing from our great speaker, we will also have a special presentation, TBA at the meeting. Also, we will be signing up members for the 2013 Clay Shoot Committee, getting a TYRF update, discussing ideas on how to grow MCYR, and deciding what community service projects to participate in for 2013.

Light appetizers will be provided by MCYR and anyone is welcome to attend. Bring a guest with you!!!

The MCYR Christmas Party will be 12/13/12 from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Wine Rack. (4610 N. Garfield Ste. D4 in the Colonnade Shopping Center) Light appetizers will be provided by MCYR prepared by Chef Bill. It is going to be a great time for members to gather and enjoy the holidays.

We will also be collecting canned food and clothes for the homeless in Midland. So, please bring all that you can.

MCYR hopes everyone has a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to seeing all of our members and friends at the Christmas Party!

MCYR is co-hosting the 2012 Young Associates College Gameday Mixer benefiting UTPB, in conjunction with Young Professionals of Midland and the Midland Co. Young Lawyers Association. The event is 11/10/12 from 11am to 4pm. It will be held at, Triple Threat Sports Bar & Grill (12 Meta Dr.).

Admission to the event is $10 which covers your lunch and also gets you discounted drinks and appetizers. This is going to be a great time for young professionals in the region to gather, network and make new friends.

All proceeds raised will go towards The Young Associates Scholarship Fund at UTPB. Anybody can come, so invite everyone you know!!! See everybody on Saturday!

We have a great meeting coming up at the end of the month! We will be hearing from two great speakers who will give members some insight in the judicial system in Midland Co. Our speakers are:

238th State District Judge Elizabeth Leonard
County Court at Law Judge Kyle Peeler

Besides hearing from our great speakers, we will be getting a final report of the 2012 MCYR Clay Shoot, voting on a constitution change submitted by our General Counsel, discussing ideas on how to make MCYR grow further, and getting all members ready for the Young Associates College Gameday on 11/10/12 co-hosted by MCYR.

Anyone is welcome to attend meetings and we encourage everybody to bring a guest. Look forward to seeing everybody at the meeting!

We will be having our next monthly meeting on 9/25/12 at 7pm. Same location as always Gerardo’s (2407 N. Big Spring) in the back room. This month’s meeting is going to be our Economic and Educational Forum. Our speaker this month are:

Kirk Edwards – Former President of the Federal Reserve El Paso Branch
Jay Isaacs – President of the MISD Board

We will also be having officer elections for the 2012 – 2013 term, voting on a constitution change, and getting an final update from the MCYR Clay Shoot being held on 9/21. We are off to an exciting year 2 for the club and have numerous projects and political involvement opportunities ahead for the membership. Membership is open to all Midland Co. residents ages 18-40 and anyone is welcome to attend our meetings. I look forward to seeing everybody on the 25th.
